Miscellany

[Windhoek] The Cathedral includes a Catholic Café, but even atheists can get a drink here

[Okahandja] Handcrafts on sale at the roadside

[Swakopmund] A slightly overgrown pet

[Walvis Bay] Each of the palm trees along the road has its own water supply; the palm avenue is about 5 km long

[20 km north of Solitaire] This is not a nest, but a birds’ apartment building

[Seeheim] The hotel parrot – an entertaining fellow

[Keetmanshoop] The time on the clock is different on each of the 4 sides

[Keetmanshoop] The number "1" on my door somehow does not seem right

[Holoog] A whirlwind carries loosely loaded lime

[Canyon Roadhouse] Men’s toilets –opening the strategically placed Pandora’s box triggers a noisy alarm in the bar, I also took the bait – a good joke!

[10 km east of Aussenkehr] Drive slowly, our grapes are sleeping

[35 km east of Kleinsee] Watch out for trucks – remember – death is permanent

[Springbok] The Afrikaans is not incomprehensible after all – "This fence is not a toilet"

[30 km west of Groblershoop] The sign prohibits hitchhiking

[Kimberley] Stylish benches at the Big Hole

[Hopetown] Welcome to Hopetown’s correctional facility – I have not done anything wrong but they already know about me and welcome me

[Kleinpoort] Electric fence stretching for kilometers along the road, separating lions from people

[Storms River Village] 1960 Chevrolet Impala – the man in the pink shirt and silver hat has nothing to do with the car, even though he suits it perfectly

[30 km west of Robertson] Every young baboon is entitled to free transport

[Worcester] A car must be decorated

[West Coast National Park] Some birds like to show off inside the hide

[Langebaan] This man is looking for prawns, which fishermen use as bait. The prawn pump sucks where holes in the sand indicate the presence of prawns.

[Simons Town] The memory of the bad old times; the store also sells funeral urns, which seemed symbolic to me

[Simons Town] Penguins keep the same mate for their entire lifetime; the female decides when it is time for mating. Does this sound familiar?

[Simons Town] A German Muslim in a Czech shooting team T-shirt on a South African beach

[Chapman's Peak Road] Thatched roofs of houses near the beach

[Cape Town - Signal Hill] Decorated car

[Cape Town] The sharks on Thibauld Square have sensors and spin around, following the pedestrians

[Cape Town - Signal Hill] The three high-rise buildings below Devil’s Peak evoked considerable discussion at the time of their construction
